Hi Coach, and the rest of you Dolly Sodds,Just listened to your covers of Rise and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. What a sweet song, Rise is. It seems like your heart comes thru in that song. I appreciate that.
Re: Rudolph. I loved it. Perfect prescription for Holiday Cheer. Brought to mind the Wonders, in the movie That Thing You Do, recording in the church with the pastor and the lead singer's girlfriend clapping along at the mike. I also felt the Beatle's She Was Just 17. I love the way you brought the sound and feel of these 2 songs into Rudolph.
Feliz Navidad,
Happy Christmas, [May] War [Be} Over,
Happy Kwanza,
Cheers,
Tracy

Pistol Pete and Cheryl,Thanks for the posts and positive reviews on our "Rise" version. Here's a little background for the masses. If you have not yet seen the movie "Into the Wild," you'll want to. Based on a true story about a local kid that treks to Alaska, Sean Penn directs an incredible film. The "local kid" is Chris McCandless, a graduate of W.T. Woodson High School. I was Chris's cross country and track coach for three years. When Jeff's daughter got married in September, Jeff wanted to have a recording of "Rise" to be played at the wedding. At the time, I had not yet purchased the Eddie Vedder soundtrack from the movie. (That too, you will want to get if you have not already.) This gave me the perfect reason to run out and buy it. Shortly thereafter, we did the recording, and in one take! I'm not sure we'll ever be able to do it any better. You'll feel Jeff's emotion on his incredible mandolin interpretation and you'll hear my vocal attempt. Paul added a little acoustic guitar, bass, and percussion. And voila! Pete, you say Chris would be proud but I can also hear him saying "Coach, happiness is only real when shared." We really had fun recording it and so, we share it here with you.

Sorry Music Lovers, but the summer curse strikes again. No gig Aug. 15, after all. A last minute closing of the Firkin & Hound Pub leaves us out in the cold, or rather, in this case, the warm, humid summer air. Sorry for the inconvenience and hope that you can make the next show. Stay tuned!Rick - August 03, 2008 - 11:36 AM - Delete

Yo! I know that some of you from Saturday's Warrenton party are out there, so here's a shout out. Once again, it's confirmed that the private party is our favorite gig. Thanks once again to the Warrenton Chorus for the vocal help on Margaritaville. That whole crowd knows how to have a good time---a little rain can't ruin their parade. We are fired up for the May 16 show at the Firkin & Hound Pub and, as always, we will have a surprise or two. Keep checking the message board as we get close to the show for potential freebies. Not to be confused with a free bird.Keep on rockin' in the free world!
