Rumor has it the Dolly Sodds has gone acoustic; when will you go public with your JMC&F acoustic line-up?

The show Saturday night at Fat Tuesdays was nothing short of amazing! I've been following the band for many years and I thought it was their best performance ever. Now I think it's time for Matt to dust off the sax and have Dolly Sodds work on The Promised Land. And I wouldn't recommend a treasured song like that to just anyone. Great job guys!

With Rick leaving, I'm sure you are wondering who will play drums.
Well, I hope everyone will welcome our old friend Franco Falvo to the band

After a long, and fun run with Rick as a drummer we are sad to say that he has decided to leave the band. We appreciate all the time and FUN Rick brought to the band, and our shows.
Perhaps he will be able to "sit in" every now and then.
We will miss you, good luck Rick!

Happy 2009 to All.
Gracias to those that have "weighed-in" on the recordings we posted. Look for many more in 2009. We are really looking forward to our next live show March 7 at Fat Tuesday's and hope to see you there.

What's so funny 'bout peace, love and understanding?

Peace,

Hi Coach, and the rest of you Dolly Sodds,

Just listened to your covers of Rise and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. What a sweet song, Rise is. It seems like your heart comes thru in that song. I appreciate that.

Re: Rudolph. I loved it. Perfect prescription for Holiday Cheer. Brought to mind the Wonders, in the movie That Thing You Do, recording in the church with the pastor and the lead singer's girlfriend clapping along at the mike. I also felt the Beatle's She Was Just 17. I love the way you brought the sound and feel of these 2 songs into Rudolph.

Feliz Navidad,
Happy Christmas, [May] War [Be} Over,
Happy Kwanza,
Cheers,

Tracy

Pistol Pete and Cheryl,
Thanks for the posts and positive reviews on our "Rise" version. Here's a little background for the masses. If you have not yet seen the movie "Into the Wild," you'll want to. Based on a true story about a local kid that treks to Alaska, Sean Penn directs an incredible film. The "local kid" is Chris McCandless, a graduate of W.T. Woodson High School. I was Chris's cross country and track coach for three years. When Jeff's daughter got married in September, Jeff wanted to have a recording of "Rise" to be played at the wedding. At the time, I had not yet purchased the Eddie Vedder soundtrack from the movie. (That too, you will want to get if you have not already.) This gave me the perfect reason to run out and buy it. Shortly thereafter, we did the recording, and in one take! I'm not sure we'll ever be able to do it any better. You'll feel Jeff's emotion on his incredible mandolin interpretation and you'll hear my vocal attempt. Paul added a little acoustic guitar, bass, and percussion. And voila! Pete, you say Chris would be proud but I can also hear him saying "Coach, happiness is only real when shared." We really had fun recording it and so, we share it here with you.

Just listened to Rise. I was good, hope you all will play in Ashburn or even Sterling. Lots of places there too! Hope to see you perform soon.

Look for a few new recordings to be posted soon!
We have been SLOWLY working on getting our originals recorded. We also did a cover of Eddie Vetter's "Rise", a treat for Catie and Neil.

Hello, I just wanted to say sorry to those who have seen inappropriate messages posted.
We delete them, as soon as we spot them,
but with an open board like this we have to deal with a few jerks!!
Anyways thanks to everyone for your support, and hope to see you soon.

Sorry Music Lovers, but the summer curse strikes again. No gig Aug. 15, after all. A last minute closing of the Firkin & Hound Pub leaves us out in the cold, or rather, in this case, the warm, humid summer air. Sorry for the inconvenience and hope that you can make the next show. Stay tuned!

Hey Matt, it was great to meet you last night at Bungalows. You all have a great site here. Love your song selection!! Hope to catch one of your shows down the road sometime.
